Since the Hero system is a core change to the ui I can't see them being Nightfall only. Yes you should have to own and travel to Nightfall to unlock them, then they travel with your char wherever you go.
If they do turn out to be Nightfall only (as in locked inside the continent) then I will have to think long and hard about purchasing Nightfall. The hero system is just too useful and would make playing with ordinary hench in the other chapters a real drag, thereby reducing my enjoyment of chapters 1 and 2. |

My educated guess is that it will work just like the storage upgrade in factions. Once you unlock a hero he will be available to you anywhere you travel.
About Heros replacing Humans... I don't think so. Did not use the heros even in the preview if guildies were available. The upside is you will always have Heros available to fill in gaps in your party. The downside is that you may have more difficulty finding or joining pugs. |

Actually...I don't think that heroes will be part of Cantha or Tyria because they are well...not part of the storyline.
Seeing as how you gain heroes as you progress through the story and how they're based on what path you choose to take...I don't think that heroes will be carried back... If they do employ the hero feature in future campaigns, I think they'll probably make new heroes for you to pick and choose as you progress through the storyline rather than let you take your current NF heroes over into the new regions, no? Just what I think. =P (*cough*10000heroesforyoutopickfromafter5campaigns ?*cough*) |

As a side note, while I liked playing with Heros and they're definitely much better than your run of the mill henchie, I still prefer living breathing people. Though people can be unpredictable, a person is still better than AI in most instances IMHO. |

The heros will not replace real people, in teams that like to work as a team! What they will offer though is a better alternative to the henchies for filling your team or a PUG who's only contribution is to join then go AFK!
There are some tactical uses for your heros as well! Take an healer with you in a difficult area and order them to stay put! You head out killing things, if you die you give them new orders! I'm not sure what extra work there is to be done as far as bringing heros to previous chapters? The data will load for the AI each time you load the maps just like it does for henchies. You do not collect your heros like henchies you choose the ones you have access to from your list. So when you go to an area, the system will load your char and it's details (level, skills etc..) it would do the same for heros as well as real people, the only extra bit will be the AI file for the hero. As for being part of the storyline! Assassins where not part of the story in tyria and yet they came over. I was under the impression that the story of the 3 chapters so far are taking place at the same time! So sins and rits doing missions in tyria was not part of the storyline hence the message you get when you are starting a tyrian mission with a rit or sin on the team! As you go to other areas you get the messages that you are seeing things from an historical point of view! Last edited by sabretalon; Sep 26, 2006 at 12:33 PM // 12:33.. |

I have to concur with some of the above views, Hero's will only be collectable from quests in the Nightfall campaign but once obtained stay with the character whichever continent they are on, it's the only sensible solution - otherwise everyone with characters from the previous two campaigns would have to ditch their hard worked characters in order to get one with hero companions.

1) Hench/Hero coding isn't linked to the environment. Its linked to players and enemies. I've never seen a henchie tune a henge portal or carry a vision crystal. They just follow you around and activate skills. Heros do the same thing so I see no reason why they wouldnt work in Tyria or Cantha.
2) The enhanced controls were available in Tyria and Cantha during the preview so the coding is already there. I doubt they would leave 3 empty "hero face" boxes in the inventory screen and not let you fill them. That would just be tacky. 3) I want the heros.... NOW!!!!! My WoH Monk hero made me giddy. |

I wish they had kept the controls Nightfall only, but oh well. Btw, it doesn't matter if Assassins don't 'belong in Tyria, but they came over anyway'. Thats a player, not an NPC, which the Heros are.
They don't belong in Tyria or Cantha, because the storyline would have to be changed. I like my Prophecies very much, kthx. |

I followed this thread in search of an answer to my question...
I have a Tyrian character. If I get her to Elona, and she unlocks heros there, will she be able to take them back to Cantha or Tyria? Today is 30th of November. Does anyone know for a fact if heroes will be enabled for transfer in other continents as well? Thanks all :-) |

Before you goto Elona to get your heroes you might want to stop in Lions Arch and pick up a new friend. Hint Hint.
